Basement micro-pub right in the centre of the city, facing Elmdon Square. Not a lot of seating around the compact bar, but there are a few tables on a small patio area at street level. Five cask ales from Pentrich, MBH, Vocation × Boundary and Ponoma Island in addition to my Almasty Green Pale (£4.60, deliberately cloudy).

A cracking little micropub once you've managed to find it. As described by OB below, but there's also a small range and fireplace. Friendly customers and a welcoming barman added to the attractions. There's a seating area at the front on Eldon Square and the wobbly garden at the rear is interesting. We had two different beers in here and both were very well kept. I think we'll definitelr be back here.

Basement micro in an older terrace opposite the main shopping centre. A shallow L shape with flag floor and seating and tall stools at shelves or barrels, more barrels hang from the ceiling some with lighting inside. There is seating outside on Eldon Square and the toilets are upstairs at the back as well as a wobbly garden. Five pulls of local beers and ten keg taps plus a fridge of European bottled beers. It’s not big so there’s not much to say but it is a good place.
